This townhome development transforms a former single family home site on 0.6 acres into a vibrant eight unit community. Studio 646 Architecture partnered with Highland Development to navigate planning and zoning approvals with the City of Golden, including a successful presentation to the planning commission.
A central design feature is the shared courtyard created by the arrangement of the buildings. This space includes a welcoming pedestrian pathway that connects to community gardens and seating areas, offering residents a place to gather and enjoy the sweeping views of Golden.
The site’s ten foot grade change introduced unique design opportunities, resulting in two distinct buildings with four unit types. The north building includes four residences with three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, while the south building offers four residences with two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. Each was designed to balance privacy, functionality, and connection to the outdoors.
